Breakfast and lunch, served at the same time, from the moment we open until we close. You order what sounds good. We cook it.
That’s true at both Chris’ locations, by the way. The original on Watson Road runs the same way, full menu, all day, no cutoff. Breakfast just happens to be the thing we’re known for. But if you want a burger at 8 AM or eggs at 1:30 PM, nobody’s going to look at you sideways.
The people who come through on a given day are pretty good cross-section of downtown: law students, faculty, attorneys, downtown office workers, tourists who found us on day two and came back every morning, and just about anyone who’s figured out there’s a genuinely great restaurant right here on Tucker.
Same family behind it as the original on Watson Road. Same welcome. The Docket has its own character and a menu with a few things you won’t find anywhere else in the city.
The original Chris’ has been in South City since 1987. The Docket is what happens when that standard moves downtown.
To Our SLU Neighbors
You share a building with us. That makes you neighbors, and we don’t take that lightly.
We know what 7 AM looks like before a full day of class. We know the lunch break that’s 25 minutes if you’re lucky. We know the student organization that needs food for 15 by 11:30 on a Tuesday because someone forgot to plan ahead. We’ve been through all of it.
Swing in before class, grab lunch between sessions, or let us handle the catering when your group has an event. The Docket is your restaurant.
SLU Organizations, Departments, and Student Groups
Law review, moot court, student organizations, faculty departments; if your group needs food for a meeting or event, Chris’ catering handles it. Individually boxed, buffet spreads, or a live omelet bar that makes your event genuinely memorable
Breakfast and Lunch. Together. All Day.
No transition hour. No “sorry, we stopped serving eggs at 11.” Full breakfast and lunch menu, available simultaneously from open to close.
A table of four where two people want pancakes and two want burgers isn’t a problem here. That’s rarer than it should be.
The Menu
- Full breakfast all day: cage-free eggs any style, buttermilk pancakes, French toast, Breakfast Fried Rice, omelets, shakshuka, biscuits and gravy
- Breakfast Tacos: a Docket exclusive, not on the Watson Road menu
- Chicken and Waffles: also Docket-only
- Breakfast Pizza: focaccia-style, built for sharing
- 8 oz. all-beef burgers on homemade brioche buns
- Grilled, fried, or blackened chicken in plates, wraps, and sandwiches
- Hot lunch plates: roast beef, meatloaf, pasta with grilled chicken or salmon
- Fresh soups and loaded salads
- Mimosas, Bloody Marys, cocktails, and coffee drinks

Catering and Events Downtown
The Docket’s catering is built for the downtown crowd. Working lunches, department meetings, client events, student org gatherings; we’ve got a dedicated catering menu with things you don’t find on the average catering roster: egg soufflés, UFO burritos, specialty mimosas by the liter, goat cheese chicken biscuit sandwiches.
The Docket is also available for private events after regular business hours. Firm receptions, organization dinners, department celebrations — the space works and the food is the same quality you’d get on a Tuesday morning.
